What better way than to explore the uncharted territories of one of Spain's most beautiful and unspoilt mountain regions, close to Sierra Maria - Los Velez Natural Park, than on horseback.

Rocky mountain paths, gaping vistas, plush pine forests, and mile upon mile of almond and olive terraces are just waiting to be explored in the saddle.

Our delightful riding holidays have been carefully designed to reveal this untouched part of picturesque Spain at its earthy best.

We work with a highly professional and fully insured riding establishment with years of experience. They have a stable of healthy Knabstrup horses, bred by themselves in Germany and moved to Spain. These highly intelligent horses were believed to have originated from the prehistoric spotted horses of Spain.

A good temperament permits handling by riders of varying experience. They are all highly accustomed to the terrain and are individually chosen to suit their riders. All horses are trained based on the ideas of Pat Parelli, Monty Roberts and Linda Tellington-Jones. A "light riding style, invented by Ursula Bruns, is used to make it more comfortable for both horse and rider on long tours . Most horses are ridden with a side pull without a bit, and Spanish and Western saddles, as well as English saddles are used. They are all covered with fur to ensure a comfortable ride.

Our riding holidays can be tailored to accommodate both beginners and experienced alike and not only include some of the area's most scenic trails, but also introduce you to Los Velez's Moorish roots in its villages and monuments. It is also possible to include tours on non-riding days to the nearby beaches or the historic city of Granada.

You can choose from 2-hr guided hacks out to guided daily rides of five hours duration, which includes either a picnic or paella in one of our local restaurants, the choice is yours.

Throughout the ride you'll be accompanied by one of our good friends who run the riding establishment - Annette and Uta.

Seven-day Horse Riding Holiday
