FAMILY DAYS OUT

THROUGHOUT Almeria there are plenty of great Family Days Out  to complement our own extensive programme of adventure activities here at Casa Aventura.

Just a short journey by car is Paque Aquatico Vera. Situated in the town of Vera it is a large park with kamikaze, body ski, twisting slides, river adventure, black hole, large pool and lake and special children’s pool and slides.

It is open every day from May to September 10.30 to 19.30. Adults 12 euros, children (4-12 years) 7 euros, under 4 years FREE. Family ticket 31euros, Half day 40% discount.

Aquaola in Cenes de la Vega, Granada, has just nine rides, but this is enough to keep all ages cool and happy including tiny tots. Adults 9 euros, children 7 euros.

Mario Park in Roquetas del Mar, Almeria. There are fifteen rides for the family to enjoy here, as well as a snack bar and various concession stands. Adults to 12 yrs 80 euro, children 8 yrs 30 euro.

Just over the border in Murcia is Aqua Natura and Terra Natura, which claims to be more than a Zoo. They are open from June to September and boasts waterslides, shows, karting, ATMs,  a Rufu River, a Sea Lion Show, and over 30 different species of Iberian birds, as well as a chance to meet the animals in the contact zones.(Contact us for further details).

Our nearest town Velez Rubio also has an outdoor swimming pool and water park.

On the coast at Carboneras a water taxi operates to nearby beaches and the Cabo de Gata natural park with two hour excursions costing 30 euros per person, four hours 50 euros and six hours 75 euros.(Contact us for further details).

Staying on the coast at Villaricos, Panoramic 7 offers you a navigation of the coastline in a glass-bottomed boat visiting the Sponge and Green Cover, to look at the marvellous sealife, including the possibility of sighting dolphins. A camera is highly recommended.(For reservations contact us).

Almeria has a surprising number of natural caves that are open to the public. All that is needed is a spirit of adventure, and in some cases equipment, to explore them. The magnificent caves, near the town of Sorbas, are located in a protected natural area of karst stone in Yesos de Sorbas. Here you have the unique opportunity to view these caves as they were formed, unlit and with no man-made passages.

On our doorstep are the Cueva de los Letreros, a UNESCO World Heritage listed pre-historic caves and paintings, and La Cueva del Gabar, a UNESCO World Heritage listed pre-historic caves and paintings near Velez Blanco. Opening times are available from us.

If you fancy a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see wolves in an exceptional environment that leaves you in no doubt that animals in captivity do have a chance to live in a semi-natural habitat, then travel to Antequera, just a few miles past Granada, to the Lobo Park. An attractive wolf park where you will find four of the most interesting wolf sub-species in the world. Open daily 10am to 18.00. Guided tour (in English): Adults 8.50 euros, children 5.50 euros.

Mini Hollywood, Almeria is located approximately 24 kilometres from Almeria on the N340 to Tabernas. In it's heyday, more than 100 films were partially shot here, including A Fistful of Dollars, The Magnificent Seven and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. These days visitors can enjoy a daily mock bank hold-up and shootout staged at noon and 5pm. There is also a small zoo featuring lions, elephants, brown bears and giraffes.

Just 3 kilometres away is Texas Hollywood, also used as a film set and boasting a Western Town, stockaded fort, Mexican Pueblo and Indian Teepees. If nothing else, stop for a cold beer at the Western-style saloon, which is decorated with photos of some of the above-mentioned film classics starring Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson and Rachel Welch.

Entry: Adults 17 euros and Children 9 euros for both attractions.
