![]() HOW many places do you know where you can go swimming in the Mediterranean in the morning and skiing or snowboarding in the afternoon? Casa Aventura can offer you the best of both worlds with Spain's number one location for winter sports, the Sierra Nevada, only a short drive away. It has the longest ski season in the whole of Europe, December through to May, and some of the best snow in all of Spain. Situated at Pradollano in the picturesque Sierra Nevada mountains, there are over 65 kms of ski slopes with 45 pistes and six off-piste routes. Two cable cars, 12 chair and five ski lifts get you to numerous runs of varying difficulties to satisfy all levels of skiers - the El Rio Slope is 3km long with a 545 vertical drop! It is the most southerly ski resort in Europe and the facilities are considered top rate. It has played host to numerous national and international ski events. Natural snow is supplemented by snow cannons on some runs, and many skiers are pleasantly surprised to find that, because of its southerly position, the air temperature is usually warmer than other resorts. There are also numerous ski schools and equipment hire shops - everything you need can be hired out on a daily basis. The resort itself is normally open from 9am to 5pm and you can also ski at night on weekends and holidays. And the fun doesn't stop there - there is plenty of nightlife with restaurants, bars, pubs, clubs and discos. After a hard day on the slopes what better way to relax than get together with other skiers and snowboarders to swap tales and start partying. Snowboarding in the Sierra Nevada mountains has gone from strength to strength in the past few years. It is an ideal place to practice. There is an on-slope half-pipe being built for surfers; availability dependent on snow conditions. The Sierra Nevada resort also has lots of trendy snowboarding shops, selling all the latest gear and equipment. Snowboarding lessons (for all levels) are available too. In addition to alpine skiing and snowboarding, Sierra Nevada offers many other winter sports, including cross-country skiing, artistic skiing (ballet, jumps, moguls), telemark skiing, trekking and adventure skiing. Here at Casa Aventura we can make all the necessary arrangements, including travel, ski-passes, equipment hire and first-class tuition to ensure you have a great day on the piste! Book Now! |
