THE fact that you probably haven't been here before is part of the Los Velez area's charm - it's a real opportunity to discover unspoilt Spain at its best....on foot!

The rugged limestone countryside is littered with goat farms and sprinkled with ancient monuments. Almond, olive and fig trees grow in abundance here, whilst in the spring and autumn, the fields are a riot of colour.

Here at Casa Aventura walkers will be spoilt for choice. We can tailor-make your holiday to suit individuals or groups, guided or unguided.

In order for you to enjoy the countryside from our front door there are a number of paths you can take, and to help you on your way we have a range of local walking maps, including the 1:25,000 topographic series, or why not venture out with our English guide.

On the other hand, if you wish to explore the stunning Natural Park Sierra Maria - Los Velez, then walking is the best way.

From hard hikes up to 2,000m to soft treks by the river shore we can offer you a wide range of routes. Our environmental guides will make this experience even more memorable.

In complete contrast to the otherwise arid and barren mountain ranges in the area, the Sierra is clothed in extensive pine forests and Mediterranean woodland. It supports a varied flora with nearly half of all the plant species in Almeria province found here, including some unique to the park.
